American coffee shop Starbucks is teaming up with blockchain solution Polygon to bring its Web3 “Starbucks Odyssey” program to life.

The blockchain industry is quickly making its way into the daily life of the average person as the rate of adoption is skyrocketing. Institutions, having noticed the use cases for blockchain and Web3, are showing increasing interest in this area. The American coffee company Starbucks decided to keep up.

The implementation of Starbucks Web3 was made possible through a partnership with the Ethereum blockchain scaling platform Polygon. Polygon broke the news in a recent tweet and official blog post. Starbucks presents Starbucks Odyssey at Polygon!” — wrote on the official page of Polygon on Twitter.

According to the post, the Odyssey initiative will allow users to earn digital collectibles as rewards. In addition, users who wish to purchase these NFTs will also be able to do so.

The official Polygon blog post gave more information about the nascent Starbucks initiative. According to the announcement, the Starbucks Odyssey initiative will add even more perks to the already existing Starbucks Rewards loyalty program.

Through Odyssey, members of the loyalty program can purchase and earn digital collectibles in the form of NFTs. In addition to members of the Starbucks loyalty program, the same opportunity will be given to Starbucks employees in the US.

As a result of the partnership, the program will be powered by Polygon. Polygon noted that interested parties can join the waiting list starting today, as the invitation will begin sometime this year.

“Creating Starbucks Odyssey with technology that is aligned with our sustainability aspirations and commitments is our top priority,” said Starbucks VP of Loyalty, Strategy and Marketing. Ryan Butts.

“We took a very thoughtful and thorough approach to evaluating which blockchain to use. Polygon’s fast, low-cost, and carbon-neutral network is the perfect foundation for our first digital community,” Butz added.

In addition, speaking about the development, Polygon co-founder Sandeep Neilwal emphasized that the common interests of Polygon and Starbucks are the main reason why the coffee shop chose a blockchain company.
“Both companies place great value on diversity, accessibility and sustainability,” said Neival.

Polygon, launched in 2017, is a second layer solution built on the Ethereum blockchain. Polygon aims to help Ethereum with its scalability requirements. Since its inception, the blockchain solution has grown significantly to position itself as an option for institutional blockchain adoption.

Last month, The Crypto Basic announced a partnership between the Partisia Blockchain Foundation and Polygon. The Foundation noted that its Mainnet V3 has been successfully integrated into Polygon. Crypto winter is the best time to choose projects for investment. Buy at the bottom! Good luck to all!
